Information for Current Seniors
Wednesday, March 18 -- Counselor Email from Mrs. Zuberbier
I hope you are all hanging in there and I'm so sad we aren't able to meet in person! Please know we are here for all of you and feel free to reach out with any questions you might have!
As a staff, we are staying attuned to updates from the Michigan Department of Education, Department of Education, as well as the College Board. This is certainly not the way we saw the end of your senior year going, but we will get through this! Looking forward, many have reached out regarding your community service hours. We do not want to put students in situations where they are at risk of exposure. Our top priority is keeping you safe. If need be, we will work with you on an individual basis should that need arise.
Here are some volunteer opportunities that may be of interest to you:
- offer virtual tutoring to underclassmen for SAT and/or AP exams
- Kids Food Basket paper bag decorating- 20 bags= 1 hour
- offer help to those in need with spring yard work - If able!
- Provide care packages to those most vulnerable
- create 'craft kits' to disseminate to kids in the community
- virtual opportunities through volunteermatch.org
If you are still working on college applications, let me know what documents you need sent. Many colleges and universities are accepting them via email. You can update your SCOIR account so I can send those documents to those colleges and universities. If you have concerns on Fall enrollment, please contact the admissions offices to the college you plan on attending. You can also review the admissions office website to see if the deposit deadline has changed. Typically the deposit is due May 1st, but some may move this date. The National Association for College Admissions Counseling has also put together a list of schools with this information: https://www.nacacnet.org/news--publications/newsroom/college-admission-status-coronavirus/. Again, you can always contact the school directly.
You will all receive more information from your teachers this Friday on learning experiences. As of right now, will continue with the same plans for Graduation and senior related items, unless we hear otherwise. The Leadership Team will re-evaluate within the coming weeks. On that topic, we have a handful of seniors who have not ordered their cap and gown. We also have some who still owe money on their order. Please reach out to Jostens at www.jostens.com for more information.
Please let me know if you need anything! Stay safe and healthy!
